Oops and sorry is all we can say. We attended Southwest Drift Series Round 4 alongside Formula Drift Pro 2 Round 4 back on September 29 and October 1 2016, and never got around to making a post. Here is a quick shout out to the podium of round 4, and the champion of the 2016 Southwest Drift Series. Also, enjoy a gallery to cap it off.
For the last round of 2016 Golden Gate Drift, we returned to Thunderhill Raceway. Drivers have seen many different configurations of the West course. For the final round, turns 8W-10W in the standard counter-clockwise layout were used.
Top Drift, the Formula Drift licensing series, made it’s way to Walt James Stadium on Saturday, and although the track is our least favorite at Willow Springs Raceway, the driving and results were as exciting as ever. Check out the gallery for tons of photos of all the action.
Golden Gate Drift made it’s way back to Thunderhill Raceway Park on July 10th, 2016 for the 3rd round of the Formula Drift Pro-Am series. Going into the third round, Julian Dumay was leading the series in points, and names such as Travis Ragona, Chris Bixler, Joe Tardiff, and Nate von Tuchlinski were nipping at his heals for the lead. The last time we visited Thunderhill, was for Golden Gate Drift Round 1 back in April, and boy has the scenery dried out and changed since.
This past weekend’s Top Drift event at Willow Springs Raceway, the second round of the Formula Drift licensing series, was pretty unique in terms of things that rarely happen, happening. Driver and spectator turnout was great, but there was tons of downtime due to a record number of oil spills, the most we’ve ever seen at a track event, and other things such as mechanical breakdowns calling for track rescue. Top Drift Round 2 was not a disappointing event though, as the driving got better throughout the course of the day, and the battles in the finals kept going and going, keeping fans, friends, and family of the drivers on edge until the end.
