Golden Gate Drift hosted Round 4 of it’s Formula Drift Pro licensing series this past weekend at Thunderhill Raceway, located just minutes outside the Northern California town of Willows surrounded by classic California rolling hills and grassland. This would be the second time we’ve joined Golden Gate Drift at Thunderhill this year, and the second time we’ve been to Thunderhill, ever.
Dan Brockett’s No Coast Drift Party is one of the events I look forward to attending every year. For the past 4 years, I’ve traveled with various groups of friends out to Sandia Motor Speedway in Albuquerque, New Mexico to hang out with some of the most awesome people in the drift community. This year, Vegas Drift hooked up with Dan Brockett/Whiskey Garage and brought Southwest Drift Series to Sandia, and added a bit of seriousness to the event that is usually a whatever goes drift party.
It’s been a while since I’ve been to a Golden Gate Drift FD licensing series, only having made it up to Stockton 99 Speedway for Round 1 of the 2014 season. When Luke Crowell invited me to round 3 at Thunderhill Raceway on July 5th, I was excited and jumped on the opportunity to check out some drifting, take my family on a NorCal Independence Day road trip, and immerse myself in the unique experience that only the NorCal drift scene could offer.
After Formula Drift rocked New Jersey-based oval Wall Stadium Speedway on Saturday 06/27/2015, USDrift ProAm drivers got a chance to take on the same course at the same track, the very next day.
The 100+ degree heat didn’t seem to affect the action out at Willow Springs International Raceway for the third round of Just Drift’s FD licensing series, Top Drift, this past weekend. Braving the blazing sun until the evening brought cooler temperatures, the 2 day event was well attended by drivers, and enough spectators came out to make it a show.
It’s been a while since we’ve been to a Vegas Drift event in the parking lot of Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The last time we hooked up with Vegas Drift that wasn’t on the outside road course, or Phoenix, was when we rolled out for Vegas ProAm Round 3 back in 2012. Needless to say, we were pretty excited to revisit the old school venue that we haven’t seen for a very long time.
